This dining room has come such a long way and been given so much more character! I’m currently on the lookout for a new rug and possibly a new light fixture. I love changing out things like that because it’s not too hard and can be inexpensive and refreshes the room so much! But for now, this is what we are working with and I love it!
Here’s a video of the whole process from start to finish with a VoiceOver explaining all the details.
Now for my favorite part! The before and after (or during) photos. This one is after we first moved in and grey walls were “in” so I thought that was the direction I wanted to go, but I hated how cold the room looked when I took photos of it. Plus the “builder beige” ceilings clashed with the Passive by SW, so I painted the walls and ceiling Alabaster by SW. I also went bold and painted the back door Tricorn by SW, and that was fun for a time, but when I put up the board and batten and painted all the trim Accessible Beige by SW, I painted the door too. My personal preference for paint sheen is satin for everything.

I built my own table, got new chairs and new counter stools, repurposed an old mirror, switched out the rug and the light fixture, added wall treatments and a ceiling medallion.

The paint helped brighten it up a bit, but the wall treatments really made a huge impact in making this room look more cozy and warm.

Some rooms just have to evolve over time. You make small changes here and there till it’s exactly how you want it.

Next up, a hallway may sound really boring to remodel, but trust me…it can have a high impact!
