I had this mirror in my garage for a while and I just didn’t know what to do with it until I needed something to go on the wall in the dining room. I figured it would be easy and cheap to redo! I found it on our neighborhood Facebook group, someone was giving it away.
It started out yellow like the picture below.

I started by cleaning it and taping it off with painters tape.

I covered the mirror part with a trash bag and what was still showing I covered with printer paper, whatever works right??

I took it outside and spray painted it black.

And then I used a makeup brush and Rub N Buff and smeared it on it in a circular motion. I got this technique from Jenna Sue and it works so well!

Then we hung it on the wall with the only drywall anchors I use and took off the trash bag. This was before I put up the beadboard wall treatment. The mirror goes so well with the beadboard!

I’ve also used Rub N Buff to make this wall sconce look antiqued. Same technique except it was already black when I ordered it. There are many colors of Rub N Buff, you can choose whichever one you like best. Jenna Sue wrote a blog post on the different colors and I’ve referenced it many times to decide which color I wanted to use.

This one went in Mia’s loft bed area. This lamp had the option to plug it in or hard wire it. We just use the plug in option.

I’ve also antiqued this picture frame. I found it at Goodwill and thought it had a great shape and design.

I have it hung in the kitchen with an edited print of Mia picking strawberries in Seattle. With this app I made it look like a water color painting. Pretty cool!

Have you used Rub N Buff before? Would you? I’m kind of obsessed myself!

Hey there. I love your mirror redo! I have a similar mirror and plan to try this. I’ve used rub n buff, so I’m familiar with the product. What is the method you’re using? Are you adding water to thin it?
Hi, no, I just put a little on a paper plate and rubbed it on in a circular motion. No water needed. I like for the black to show through a little bit.
Tell me about the Brushstroke app ?
Thank you
It’s just an app I used to make a regular picture look like it was painted. But it has lots of filters. I believe what I did was free.
