Just a few changes in this living room, but I love it so much more now! It just feels so warm and cozy. When we first moved in I painted the whole house light grey because that’s what was “in”, but I left the ceiling the builder yellow/beige color because the 9ft ceiling just seemed like so much work to paint myself and I was intimidated, but the beige clashed with the grey so bad that it made me hate the grey. So I decided to paint it all Alabaster by SW in a satin finish, the ceilings and walls of the whole main living space. It was like a breath of fresh air! I also learned how to take better photos between then and now.
Here’s a quick video of the whole process.
We bought this sofa when we lived in our old apartment, it just happened to fit perfectly in this new living room! I even built these nesting coffee tables, you can read more on those here and you can purchase the building plans for them here.

We got rid of the builder grade ceiling fan and put in a prettier one. I framed the windows, got new curtains and replaced the blinds with these bamboo roman shades and I love the new look! The shades were very yellow when they came in and I didn’t want to send them back so I stained them with Spice Brown by DuraSeal to get them the color I was after. I did a small weekend makeover on this fireplace, you can read more on that here. I also built the TV Stand below! You can read more on that here and the woodworking plans are available in my Etsy shop here.

This picture from the real estate ad when we first bought the house really shows a huge difference!

I was gifted this gorgeous wooden wall map and it’s perfect for this room and my life since I’m a flight attendant! The quality is great!

I’m not sure if the fireplace is my favorite or the built-in bar…

Here are some more before and after pictures, can you believe the difference?!

What’s your favorite project in this room? Is there any you feel like you could tackle?

Next up, the kitchen! Starting with taking the cabinets to the ceiling.

You did such a good job on transforming every space! Can’t wait to see your next project.
