This view of our patio is nice and all but I felt like it was still missing something.

I felt like it was all hard lines and no softness to the design, so we added these beautiful custom made outdoor curtains from The Hues!

I had these custom made and I was afraid the bottom would get dirty if they were too close to the ground so I opted to have them a little short. I probably should have ordered them a little longer, but for what we are using them for, I’m happy with what we have. Here is an up close view of the texture of the ones I chose.

They have so many different colors and material to choose from, you can even choose how they hang and if they are pleated or not! Totally customizable! We have ours hung from loops in the back. We found these heavy duty outdoor tensions rods that come in VERY long lengths. Even with the crazy winds we’ve had recently they have held amazingly! No rods have fallen, I’m super impressed!

Again, these are super customizable!

I even chose sand bags for weights at the bottom. They already have a little weight made in to the bottom of the curtain, but for outdoor use I definitely recommend the sand bags.

I didn’t have any sand on hand for these, but we do have a bunch of rocks around our walkway I used for a few of these for now until I could go pick up some sand. The sandbags are made in the same material that the curtains are and they have a thick line of velcro at the top that keeps the sand/rocks in.

The curtains have loops on the bottom to attach the sandbags to.

The hot tub area was great before, but with the curtains it’s so much prettier and useful! I will say, the only thing I wish they came with or at least was an option are ties of the same material. We currently have ours tied around the legs with twine, which works fine but I think matching material would be nicer.

I know I live in Texas and all and people who don’t live close to here don’t realize it does get cold! It just also gets REALLY hot! But the hot tub for now is perfect for our cold months! Especially with the curtains that help hold in the steam!

Now what is rare for us in Texas is snow. If we do get snow, typically we can see the grass coming up through it because we don’t get enough to cover it. But just a few weeks ago we got about 7in of snow in my city! We were shocked!

Luckily we knew it was coming and decided to put the curtains up the night before around the hot tub. We also only ordered 3 of the tensions rods for the curtains at first so we could make sure they work well before buying 10 of them, that adds up! It was soooo cold!

Of course the first thing we wanted to do when we got so much snow was get in the hot tub! It snowed all day and it was so magical to watch, especially from a nice warm seat! We sat out there and watched a movie while it was snowing. But of course he had to close the curtain and open the hot tub while in his swim suit, it was pretty funny to watch!

We had all the curtains closed to keep the steam in, but ended up opening them on one side to watch the magic! I know some of you up north probably are rolling your eyes, but we truly don’t get snow like this in Texas! It usually rains and then turns to ice or snows a little, then melts and then turns to ice!

The snow stayed on the ground for a week or so and we were in the hot tub several times a day! I mean, look at all the steam here, when you have the louvers to the pergola closed and the curtains closed it just keeps it all in! Only downside, you can’t see the TV as Cleary! lol! But I’ll take it!

I even came across a snowman one of our neighbors built that was taller than me! Not that thats hard to beat since I’m only 4’11. But most things are bigger in Texas!

Okay, enough about the Texas snow. Our backyard is really coming along and I have some more plans up my sleeve! Like a DIY portable pop up TV, a new DIY outdoor sectional that fits our space better and new tables I’m going to make to go beside the hot tub because the ones I threw together with cedar fence pickets just isn’t cutting it.

I also have plans for the ceiling of the original patio cover that I’m excited about.

Next up, let’s build a portable rolling TV!!!
