These doors were fine, but I wanted to give them a fun makeover. I saw some inspo over on Instagram that I wanted to try and Nova was on board with the idea so I went for it! I removed the doors from the hinges and took them home with me to get some work done on them.

I started by ripping down some shiplap paneling I found at Home Depot. I used a long piece of straight wood clamped down and my circular saw to easily rip this down. When I ripped them down I cut from each of the outside edges because the size would leave one of the shiplaps cut down the middle and I wanted the doors to all have the same pattern, if that makes sense?

Once those were ripped down I had to use my jigsaw to take out 3 notches per door where the hinges were so they covered the whole door.

I used Liquid Nails to glue this onto the doors, I went through a whole tube for the 4 doors so the paneling is on there pretty well, I didn’t feel the need to add any brad nails.

To hold it in place tightly while the glue dried I used wood clamps and dumbbells. (that’s what you are supposed to use dumbbells for right?)

Before I took them back over to Andrea’s I noticed some of the paneling was hanging off of a couple of the doors in some areas. I measured and realized the doors weren’t square or the same size as each other. I used my router with this bit to remove the excess parts that were sticking off.

Once I got to Andrea’s I caulked the edges of the doors where the paneling meets the door and then I hung them up.

Then I got to work painting the door trim and the doors Alabaster by SW, I took a break in the middle of this to add hardware holes so I could attach the hardware to the doors without messing up the paint. I didn’t paint these at home because I didn’t want the paint to get messed up in transport.

Once the paint was dry I installed the hardware and they were done! I used the same hardware for the doors as I did for all the drawers in the room. Gives the room a whole new feel!

What do you think? Is this a diy project you think you could tackle?
Next up, the built in transformation.
