My laundry room is tiny, as I mentioned in this post. We just had our broom and mop propped up against the back wall and our cleaning supplies were on the floor in the laundry room or under the kitchen sink. I had enough room on the back wall to create a thin cabinet to house the cleaning supplies.
I started by building a box out of 1×6 primed pine. You can use pocket holes here, but I just made a hole with a spade bit big enough the screw head would fit inside and drilled into the sides. I planned to fill this with wood filler later. I used my corner clamp to make sure it was square. I measured my broom and mop and my cleaning chemicals to determine how tall I wanted this box to be.

Then I added some back supports and a shelf on the bottom for the cleaning chemicals.

Once the cabinet box was built, it was time to hang it up. I could only find 1 stud behind the drywall in this area, so I used one regular screw and 1 drywall anchor to mount it to the wall. I put 2 screws in the top and 1 in the bottom. Side Note: If you ever need drywall anchors, these are the ones to buy, you never want to use the crappy ones that come with whatever you’re buying…trust me!

Once it was hung, I test fit all my cleaning supplies and they fit! I just put some screw in the back supports to hang the broom, mop, duster and dust pans on.

I took measurements and got started building the doors. I always use 1x3s for the doors along with brown board cut to size. I used pocket holes to put these doors together, then I caulked the brown board into place in the center once I cut it to the perfect size, like in this post. I make doors a bit different now, but this is the way I used to do it.

Once the doors were done, I painted everything Alabaster by SW. Then I put the hinges on the cabinet box and attached the doors. I used these magnets to hold the doors closed when shut.

I added some cabinet pulls and now look! All my cleaning supplies have a home and they are out of site! This is a pretty simple way to hide your cleaning supplies if you have a wall for it!
Here’s a quick video on the process.
